Sauvie Island and Baseball

Last week it was almost 80 degrees so we decided to go berry picking, have a picnic, and finish the day with baseball.  Sauvie Island is only about a half hour away and there are several farms that do berry picking.  We were able to bring home some strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.  It was such a fun morning!

For the last few years my Dad and Debbie have hosted a baseball player in their home for the summer.  They play for the Black Bears which is a summer team while they're on break from college baseball. We drove to Longview to watch Cory, and it was a perfect night for baseball!

Daddy

We celebrated Father's Day early this year.  We surprised Tim and took him to the Portland International Raceway to see the Rose Cup Races.  We went Friday morning for the qualifying races so NO ONE was there.  It was wonderful.  The rain stayed away and we watched some of the races for a few hours, walked the pits talking to owners and had a great time.  Tim saw the Porsches race which were his favorite.

Sisters

These girls have the best time playing together!  Charlotte tries to be like Gracie in everything she does lately...I love the way she looks up to her...Gracie is a good sport and only gets annoyed every once in awhile ;)

Cooper Mountain Nature Park

Earlier this month we visited Cooper Mountain Nature Park.  We had a great time walking the trails, looking at flowers, and playing on the playground.

Can't Wait

Tim and I will be getting a miniature second honeymoon in September!  For our birthdays this year we are doing this trip.  I have always wanted to visit Canada and now that we live so much closer it is more of a reachable task!  We will take our car on the ferry at Port Angeles across to Victoria and stay for two nights in a beautiful little hotel, visit Buchart Gardens, two castles, and hopefully go whale watching.  I CAN'T wait.

Grand Floral Parade

The highlight of the Rose Festival here in Portland is the Grand Floral Parade.  This parade is four miles long downtown and everyone goes.  People save their spots the night before to get a good seat!  We weren't that crazy but I knew the girls would really enjoy it.  Tim was working since it was a Saturday so the girls and I took MAX for the first time.  We got on a VERY full train well over an hour before the parade started.  We got a GREAT seat and I was glad I brought a blanket to sit on because the girls needed it to stay warm...it was COLD! I brought snacks, lunch, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk to keep the girls occupied for over an hour before the parade actually got to us.  There were over 80 entrants so it was a long parade but I was so impressed.  The bands were amazing and the girls were clapping and bouncing to the music.  There were "rodeo princesses" which were Gracie's favorite.  Charlotte liked waving at everyone!

Cinderella

At the end of May we took Gracie to see "Cinderella".  It was in a little theater and the icing on the cake was it was at the high school that, to Gracie, is "the castle".  It's a Catholic school and one of the buildings is pretty awesome.  She got a new dress for the event and was a perfect little audience member.  Charlotte stayed with cousin Sara and had so much fun...she even helped her do laundry!  We had a fun night on our Gracie date.
