With Gracie turning two, Tim and I talked and wanted to do a party where our little girl would have the BEST day. We decided that even with a small house we wanted to include Gracie's grandparents and great-grandparents, her little friends from church and their families, cousins, and then a couple families who have stayed so close with us over the last year. Always hoping most can come to a party, but nervous because of the small house and possible rain...we were nervous, but happy, when nearly everyone could come!! We ended up with 43 people, including kids. We borrowed a cousin's bounce house, did a bunch of bubbles, had coloring, and a light lunch and cake. Gracie has never been so independent and "hands off" mom or dad. She was so happy, and aside from not taking her nap before the party, and throwing a couple small fits because someone was using "her toy", she did so well. She was fascinated by her cake...it was made by a 7th grader named Nicky, who I have known since she was 3 (taught her swim lessons)...and she was in my class last year for 6th grade. She has taken up baking and creating cakes and does a wonderful job...so we hired her. She FAR exceeded any expectations I had, and created a masterpiece with every Bubble Guppies character, fondant shells, brown sugar sand, and buttercream frosting that looks like water...and it tastes heavenly. Gracie was spoiled but received things she needed (summer clothes, books, pots/pans for her kitchen, swim suits, new bath towels, bubbles...) We are thankful for a party that we will remember as such a happy day for Gracie, even though she won't remember it :)
